SHEHERAZAD MEDIA INTERNATIONAL PROFILE

Established in 2000, SHEHERAZAD MEDIA INT’L (SMI) is an active distribution and marketing company of Iranian films and productions around the world. Participating in major festivals and markets and sometimes acquisition of exceptional films, we also partake in co-productions and consider it as one of the company’s main goals.

Mrs. Katayoon Shahabi, the Managing Director, started her work in 1982 as a film promoter at “Farabi Cinema Foundation” (FCF). In 1994, she co-founded “Cima Media International” which in addition to promoting feature films and TV programs, was also involved in co-production of a number of documentaries and feature films that have been world-widely successful.

SMI’s policy is to select the best Iranian documentaries, shorts and feature films amongst the many productions produced each year, with the aim being to promote and distribute them abroad.

In a short time, SMI has gained much progress and has even started to produce and co-produce documentaries each year.

Amongst the many projects proposed to SMI, the best ones are selected for co-production, granting the opportunity to all those who are interested in co-production with Iran to have the chance to work in the ideal conditions for the best projects.

SMI would like also to expand its activity by introducing valuable films from around the world, especially the Middle East.
